Super Saver, Simple Baptism

Event or party planning can be fun but it can turn into a daunting, stressful task. I actually started looking around and even making calls as early as my 6th month of pregnancy. You read it right! It never hurts to prepare early and to lay down a blue print for your event. And, yes, I am an eager beaver like that. The funny thing about this early bird preparation is, there are still last minute changes. In our case, a major one.  Let me take you to our simple DIY Baptism for, supposedly, 50 guests and only about 30 guests came. Catholic Side Your baby is born into the world and the next occasion you are looking forward to is his/her Christening or Baptism Day. As a Catholic family, it is mandatory for a baby to be baptized within his/her first year. Old folks and the Church encourages parents to get their children baptized as soon as within 2 to 4 months old. We held Baby G's Baptism when he was 6 months old (a few months back - oh how time flies!). The Church

Great Image Family Photoshoot

The Christmas Holiday is fast approaching and it is a perfect time for families to get their photos taken. There are many options to choose from and we got ours from Great Image Studios.  We went to Beloved Studios in Megamall which is also a sub-company of Great Images. We were accommodated by their manager, A and Joan, the photographer. They made us feel at ease and were very patient with giving us instructions and they especially loved working with Baby G. I can definitely say they are experienced with handling little kids with their energetic process of capturing memorable shots. Their photoshoot session starts as low as 350php. Great deal, right? The photos below are our high resolution digital files and we got ours sooner than we expected. :) The D'Towns are looking forward to our printed shots - will post them as soon as we get them!  Do you want to get a free photo session with (1) 5R print? SAHM TV: TV Guilty Pleasures

Blog entry:  TV Guilty Pleasure First of all, there's a whole lot of misconception that we, SAHMs, are "just" at home and that's all there is to it. We are busy Queen Bees in our own hives. We do chores, cook decent, edible (and sometimes 5-star quality *wink*) meals on top of handling little tykes. These darlings may be small but they can be a handful. As Stay-at-home Moms, we also need a break from our "workload" and we turn the TV on in hopes to see something that can take our mind off all the worries, chores and the list of other things we need to/want to do for the day (or even the next day!). What are your TV guilty pleasures? The kind of which you think you would not really like as much but then you suddenly find yourself following them. Back when I was single, I only had limited TV time and I just selectively watch what truly captured my interest. Here are my Top 5 TV guilty pleasures: 1.) Keeping Up with The Kardashians -

Ways to Break In Your Woven Wrap

You are over the moon when the much-awaited fluff mail arrives at your doorstep and you just could not wait another minute to try your precious woven wrap.  Woven Wraps can have different blends like pure cotton, part cotton/part linen, part cotton/part bamboo, and so on. It also depends on the type of weave the wrap has. A type of weave can be Fort Knox tight and can be a bit stubborn for use.  Before you get your squishy little bubba into the uppy, it is highly recommended to break it in first so it will be more manageable and comfortable for you and your baby. Washing it first is a MUST. Here are a few ways: 1) Iron 2) Braid Check this tutorial:  How to braid a woven wrap 3 ) Hammock       *** I also knotted it around the crib railings. *** 4) Use as play mat or blanket 5) Regular use (and take unlimited selfies!)

Holiday Wrap Review - Little Frog Labradorite

Wrap details: 55% cotton/45% bamboo blend – machine-woven –size 6 (4.6m); weighs 200 g/m2; ecru weft with a broken twill weave; bamboo fibers have natural anti-bacterial properties and it’s hypoallergenic Wrappee:  BabyG (boy)– 9 months – 10.4kgs/22.92 lbs. Wrapper:  small – chubby build Review : Enamoured with this rainbow love from Poland, its 55% fluffy and 45% feathery  texture just makes my little one extra squishy like sitting on Cloud 9. Design  – this prismatic little number is perfect for adding a splash of color on Mommy’s (and baby’s) OOTD; this can be gender-neutral for kids/babies but too bright for Daddies or male wrappers. Size 6 is a lot of fabric plus the silky, cushy material can make it a little “poofy” when bundling it in a hurry upon stowing it away; I had to take the time to fold it really neatly to fit into our small day (baby)bag. Weather/season – I wore this around the park for a good 30 minutes on a sunny Sunday morning and

One Wrap One-der

As you go through my wrap-ventures (more coming soon), it is noticeable that the Dtowns has only one wrap. It’s Forest Green (100% cotton blend) by a local retailer Little Snuggie Baby, owned by a Mom-preneur and handwoven with love by a native from the heavenly highlands of Benguet. It took us some time to find The One as there are a wide variety of carriers out there. We narrowed it down to the  3F’s  to finding our beloved Forest Green: Functionality, Financial accessibility and Fancy design. The wrap fits all categories (for us) because it can be gender neutral, flexible with different types of carries and it can grow with you until toddlerhood which, I can say, a big bang for your buck. Wraps, though, depending on type and brand, can be pricey so watch out which one you may want to get. They also come in different lengths, types of material and gorgeous designs (that I can talk about ALL day!). As the new kids on the parenthood block, Mr. Dtown and I would like to get mo

Babywearing: a pleasant acquaintance turned best friend

As someone new on the block, parenthood was kind of a rocket science for Mr. D'Town and I. We were bombarded with overwhelming information, unsolicited advice and trapped with a couple of stereotypical child/baby-rearing from family, friends and media.  One of the entrapments of parenthood is for you to avoid getting your child used to being held or carried. It is an age-old debate but my take is, your child, your rules (as long as it is safe and legit!). Baby G was a colicky baby and he woke up when he needed burping or he would let out air then cry. It was unbearable. He is a loud cry-er, too, so imagine the agony you feel when nothing seems to work. On top of that, he has this uncanny sense of smell about him that when I leave his side, he wakes up!  Another hurdle was, it was hard to transfer Baby G from arms to crib or to the stroller, he cried when we're not successful, which happened too often. My friend, ZMrs.Carpio, said "Why not try babywearing? and
